  • Basic Counselling Skills

The ability to communicate effectively has implications for every part of life.

Better communication can improve family relationships, enhance business relationships, and improve overall quality of life.
Think again of how many disputes, arguments and disagreements were all rooted in poor communication?

The word communicate comes from the Latin communis or common.
It indicates that two people or two groups have something shared in common but many problems and disputes can be traced to a lack of understanding.

As a working definition we’ll consider that communication has been successful if there is shared understanding.
So what is the result of shared understanding?
What are the implications of a lack of shared understanding?

This course has been put together to enable us to examine what happens when we communicate, where the problems lie, and what we can do to improve our communication skills.

    Topics which are covered include:

    • The way we can establish professional relationships with clients.
    • How we can provide effective responses to client enquiries.
    • How to respond to difficult or challenging behaviour. Conflict Resolution.
    • The use of basic counselling skills as required to facilitate assistance.

This course can be taken as a ”stand-alone” subject.

The Specialised Interest Course NCCASIC10 Basic Counselling Skills for Service Providers is an element of the Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy.

This course would be considered as Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) towards the attainment of the qualification HLT60507 Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy.
